Weather Shield’s New Premium Coastal Boasts Advanced Technology and Vast Options Designed for Exclusive Oceanfront Homes

The blazing sun. Salt and sand filled air. Raging storms. These coastal conditions are no match for the all-new Premium Coastal™ from Weather Shield Windows & Doors. And while Premium Series Coastal products stand up to coastal climates, they also enrich the aesthetics of high-end, beachfront homes with their range of interior wood species, expansive exterior color palette and rich hardware options. Premium Coastal windows and doors became available for order beginning Sept. 1, 2015.
“Premium Coastal windows and doors are equal parts beauty and brawn,” said Chris Schield, vice president of marketing for Weather Shield Windows & Doors. “These architecturally inspired windows and doors combine the advanced technology and wide range of desirable options found in the Premium Series with Cardinal Glass technology and enhanced coatings that endure the harsh coastal climate. We’ve also expanded the offering to include monumental sizes that previously could not meet High-Velocity Hurricane Zone (HVHZ) standards.”
Premium Coastal products include push-out and traditional casement, awning, double hung, picture and direct set windows as well as hinged patio doors. Double hungs are available up to 8’ tall whereas operating casements up to 7’ tall. Weather Shield has achieved High-Velocity Hurricane Zone (HVHZ) certification on all of its Premium Coastal products without the need for exterior brackets or clips that may interfere with sightlines or a home’s visual appeal.
The entire product line is available with unlimited choices in exterior clad colors, 7 choices of interior wood species and 8 interior finish options. FSC®-Certified wood is also an available option. To complement these finishes, hardware is offered in white, tan, brushed nickel, polished brass, rustic bronze and matte black for windows; door hardware in brushed nickel, bright brass, oil-rubbed bronze, matte black, polished chrome and antique brass.
TriCore Frame Ensures Weather-Tight Construction
Casements, awnings, pictures and direct set windows have Weather Shield’s proprietary TriCore™ frame, comprised of a vinyl sub-frame, aluminum clad exteriors and wood interiors, for a weather-tight fit and excellent thermal performance. With TriCore, all frame components susceptible to weathering are produced from moisture-resistant materials. The fusion-welded corners virtually eliminate points of water intrusion commonly found in wood windows made with traditional frame technology. Casements and pictures are also available with an option 3-1/2” bottom rail to bring out an authentic mission style.
Double Hungs Mimic Period Windows
Premium Coastal double hung windows have a proportioned frame profile, and interior and exterior design features that deliver the refined look of period windows. Aluminum, color-matched jambliner fillers ensure color consistency across the exterior whereas standard wood jambliners conceal the vinyl jamb on the interior and complement the heavy, solid wood frame and 3-1/2” bottom rail. Rather than lift routs, the double hungs have either sash lifts or finger lifts to extend the historic look.
Like the casements, the double hung windows feature advanced technology that delivers efficiency, easy operation and clean sightlines. The Symmetry™ Balance System is the most concealed balance system on the market, and helps the units achieve Class 3 AAMA ratings.
Glazing for Miami-Dade to New England
Premium Coastal comes standard with glazing options manufactured by Cardinal Glass Industries. For homes inland that do not require impact glass, Lo-E3 340 glass delivers SHGC as low as .18 without adding tint. Single-glazed Sea-Storm laminated glass for warmer coastal climates, and insulated Sea-Storm laminated glass for the Northeast provide protection from wind-borne debris caused by tropical storms. Sea-Storm laminated glass has a resilient interlayer fused between two panes of glass, which helps prevent flying debris from entering the home. By keeping the home sealed, this interlayer also helps protect the home against interior and exterior pressure imbalance that often results in a wind-tunnel effect and significant damage to a home and its contents.
Weather Shield products are backed by the Wood Shield warranty, which warrants the wood components against rot for 30 years on aluminum clad products and 10 years on wood exterior products. Weather Shield’s 20/20 warranty applies to other components, glass and assembly deficiencies. Interior factory finishes are warranted for 5 years.
